It's hard to function in life when everything feels so overwhelming. Things are getting on top of you and you can't get anything straight in your head. Is the anxiety keeping you up at night and you feel like you're running on empty? You have no motivation or you have a feeling of dread when you wake in the morning. You may not even know why you are feeling this way. I can help you in exploring you thoughts and feelings in a safe confidential space.
About me and my practice
I use the person-centred approach which is a humanistic approach that puts you at the centre of your own therapy. It encourages you to explore what your struggling with and lets you gain a better understanding of yourself and your relating to others. It allows you to have more self-acceptance, increases self-esteem, self-worth and balances those negative thoughts and feelings with more positive ones. This is facilitated by me providing the conditions for a safe space of non-judgmental acceptance and empathic understanding. This helps build a relationship of trust that allows you to open up, at your own pace, to what it is that is blocking your potential for growth.
Sometimes it feels difficult to talk about what you are struggling with, you might not be able to find the right words, or you struggle to find a place to start. I can help you in this by using creative art exercises to encourage the flow of exploring your experiences and to help you find meaning and understanding in them
Experience
I currently work with Employee assistance programmes as well as my own private practice. I also facilitate fortnightly Personal Development programmes within person-centred counselling diploma course at my local college.
During my training I worked with children and young people in my placement and also volunteered at a bereavement charity, counselling people during Covid-19.

Additional Information
I partake in my continuing professional development by regularly going to workshops, presentations and webinars. Keeping up to date with current ideas and findings within different issues that people struggle with.
I attend monthly supervision where I explore anything that comes up for me in sessions that might cause a bit of a block in my own process, or might even be bringing up some of my own experiences within me, and find ways to work through that there, so that it does not impact our sessions together
